Seamaster De Ville Logo?

Dear all,

I was just wondering when I saw this Seamaster De Ville steel. Can you tell me if the dial is authentic? It‘s just because the „S“ in Seamaster seems to be different. If it is an authentic Omega, is it possible to determine the caliber without opening the watch?

Thanks for your help,
a novice! 😉

Thanks! So the coathanger S and the applied „Omega“ indicate a very early Seamaster De Ville I guess?

BTW: Richard's sources are still omnipresent...

Great, thank you, Vitezi! So it could be ST 166.020. So just to understand: the coat-hanger-S existed with the De Ville date model but the cal. was the same also without coat-hanger-S?

Cal 562 in that one most likely

Case looks nice and sharp, dial looks correct (perhaps a little surface corrosion that may or may not clean off) and has the right hands and crown to match.
Only judging from one pic, it looks pretty good- but I would want to see the back (seahorse or plain engraving back which will affect price) and angled close up of the crystal to see if the omega logo is there.

The watch is from the early 1960s, I think. Ref. 166.020 doesn't have the matching "S". There are no Tritium signs. I vote for an earlier reference, Ref. 14910 comes to my mind...

I agree- first year of the Deville marked as Deville is ‘63 and the hanger S was on its way out around this time so I’m guessing ‘63 as my ‘62 is the pre-DeVille marked Deville with a hanger S. But it’s a non lume dial so no T’s anyway if it were a later tritium era dial

In one of the catalogues I just saw that ref. 166.020 had also the coat hanger S (German catalogue 1963). The back is this here:

Thank you so much for your useful information!

There was overlap of the S”s so it could very well be. But you have a time frame and most likely it had 562 if that helps. It’s a nice looking watch- hope you grab it if the price is right.
