Hi OF,

I just received this Seamaster, which I think is a De Ville, based on the looks, lugs, case (monocoque). Will bring it to the watchmaker to have it serviced an photographed on the inside to really make a good identification of caliber and watch.
Am I right so far?

I think it is what some refer to as a "pre-DeVille" because of the similarities to the more common Seamaster DeVille.

DeVille is just a name on the dial, it doesn't signify anything special.

What I am wondering: reading posts of fellow members in referring to data retrieved from the OVD they mention more information than I can see while checking the same reference number. What am I missing here?

Correct that a watchmaker will need to open it for you. I expect you’ll find it is circa 1961 with a nice cal 552 movement inside. Show us some pictures after the service 😀

Not 100% sure if I understood you correctly but the US version of the OVD sometimes has more information regarding a ref than any European one.

Will do, I am probably even more curious about the inside 😁

What information are you referring to, and for which reference specifically? The OVD has different information for different references, e.g. some entries are more complete than others.

I saw one OP for instance writing that the OVD had info regarding lume on hands for a specific reference. That stuff can’t be seen in the European version
