Hi everyone,

I have been looking for my first vintage Seamaster for some time and have finally found this Seamaster De Ville. I have not been able to find any obvious drawbacks myself, but would very much appreciate your thoughts.

Is it worth buying at around 670 dollars? I like the watch, but do not want to get cheated (redials etc.).

Watch looks fine to me. I believe several people have liked the sales post where these images are from too.

Let’s see:

1. picture of the dial+movement out of the case with the movement touching a table.

2. holding the movement with bare fingers.

All great signs that the movement will be clean and in top shape when you get it.

The case looks to be in very nice condition...good sharp facets on the lugs.

Dial may be refinished. Small notch at 6:00 on edge

It doesn't seem a notch to me, looks like a speckle...
Dial looks fine.

Agreed, dial and case looks fine to me as well. But I also agree that seeing an unprotected dial and movement being handled like that… ain’t cool.

Thank you very much to all of you - your inputs are much appreciated. I agree that the handling doesn't seem very professional.

I will go and see the watch tomorrow and probably move on it if it looks as good in real life.

Any classic dealbreakers I should watch out for?

BTW I asked for service history: it is unknown to the current owner, but he points to a number of inscriptions from watchmakers on the inside of the case as a sign that it had been serviced a number of times.

When you can see finger prints on the movement, you know you’re in for a good time!
