Been waiting for this one eagerly... Pleasantly surprised at the condition... Seems not to have been opened or polished before... Original signed crystal, crown and BOR 1036 bracelet with 586 end links:

Can anyone offer some help as to where I can locate the tool with which to open this beauty?? This is an extract from the Japanese Seamaster Collection Magazine... the only reference I could find explaining how to open it correctly:

    Thanks Wheels :)

It's truly a unique model.... feels like you're wearing a bit of the old and a bit of the new on your wrist, and there's only such limited info about it anywhere to be found (mainly Desmond's article here: [http://omega-constellation-collectors.blogspot.com/2011/04/omega-seamaster-166042-compressor.html] and another here: [http://forums.watchuseek.com/f102/o...-ref-166-042-ultimate-dress-watch-708400.html], the magazine clipping above, and a few basic forum entries here and there, which I found after researching it extensively online) so I thought to attempt to bring it all together here, for the sake of those who admire this distinctive style! ;)

    Thanks alam ;)

That's one of the main reasons this watch caught my attention, and that's how I was introduced to it online... a freak run into that compressor case concept! Now I'm left with trying to find that tool ref. 9001(as depicted above) so I can open it and inspect that marvelous cal. 565 movement within!!

Might you have any leads? ::confused2::

So is this like those Zenith Respirators the Z-boys were talking about in that other thread?

Yes... basically the same idea... the more the pressure, the more the water proof it is, as the case back compresses against the crystal with the case inbetween and the gasket enusring water tightness.... I believe that's how they introduced the Seamaster trademark "waterproof-ness" to a square design.

I would just like to make a correction to my first post here, as I had discovered the watch had the wrong BOR bracelet reference (or atleast the clasp/buckle may have been wrong), which I have now rectified :)

The Omega Compressor 166.042 was fitted with bracelet/end piece combinations 1068/586 or 1116/598. Combination 1162/173 was also adapted to fit.

It is a beauty from which ever angle, you look at it. I am sure it will look smashing if attached to a supple, blue leather-band.

For this watch at least, Hoi cannot say the seconds hand is far too long.

    Thank-you.

Boy that is Funky with a capital "F"! Can honestly say that I have never seen that model SM before--what caliber is inside, a 1000 series I assume?
Very cool find & enjoy!
