Hey folks. Long time lurker (big fan of Archer's hugely educational posts) and first time poster. Proud owner of a no-wave SMPc and a 1861 Speedy.

I've fallen in love with a vintage model going at an auction house. 321 movement and apparently it says 14364-2 on the inside of the caseback. Serial number search suggests it's from 1966. Beyond this I don't know much more, but I'm seriously tempted.

Would appreciate your collective wisdom on authenticity and worth. Please and thank you!

I've seen it on the Auction site and I'd like to say it was a looker. Sharp case, convincing dial (bit of age round the sub dials). Are the hands original - should they be spear rather than batons (and the lume doesn't match). I thought the reference went to 105.00- in the 1960's?

However, the auction is also moving stuff from the same estate and they have pointed out the watch worn in the portrait.

Seamaster Chronographs were powered by cal. 321. Hour and minute hands of the watch you've posted should be alpha-shaped, just like subdials' hands. Case seems to be ok, this one has nice edges and seems to be unpolished. Dials has signs of aging in subdial areas. Crown seems to be right, but we need the clear pic of crown itself.

The watch looks amazing. Not many left in this condition. Agreed that the hands have been swapped at some point.

Had it not been for Brexit I would probably had taken a stap at this one. Good luck.

Oh, and I'd definitely get the painting as well 😀

Revisiting this having investigated all the references of this lovely model.

Seems to me the movement is a lot later 1965/66 for a watch that was introduced in 1960?
Would explain the hands if a whole new movement has been introduced from a later model ?
