Seamaster Calendar - only doesn’t say Calendar..

Dear all,
I bought what I think is a very beautiful seamaster date at 6pm. (I was inspired by somebody else’s Hamilton, but that’s another story altogether..). I realise that every single photograph I’ve seen of a vintage seamaster calendar has well, the word ‘calendar’ below ‘automatic’. This one doesn’t. Should that ring an alarm bell (albeit rather belatedly) or was there a year where they didn’t do this? It also lacks the Swiss/Swiss Made. The watch cost £400, so not breaking the bank, and it is v beautiful… but I’d really rather not be taken for a tit!

Many thanks for any insights you can provide.

OOPS that ought to read ‘the word calendar below seamaster’, of course.

It has been redialled which is why it looks odd. Simple as that really. The price isn't excessive if you like it, you'd get out down the line with little if any loss.

Ah, OK. so I *am* a tit then. Seller claimed it as an original dial, and I believed them. Thank you.

"original dial" and "original condition" are different things, so he got you from a technicality, it is likely an "original dial" - just painted

Representing a repainted dial as "original" is fraud so far as I'm concerned. The fact that the dial was refinished should have been disclosed. OP, if you feel that the condition of the watch was misrepresented to you, I would try to return it for a full refund. Some sales platforms, eBay in particular, are very likely to side with you even if the seller specifically stated in the listing that returns are not accepted.

Hmm thank you and yes, I do feel deceived (and hey, silly - but in my defence, it's only when you have it in your hand that you can really get a proper look )

My calendar bumper that came yesterday what you can compare was £670 and it's currently non working the second hand touches the minute hand and stops it tho should be an easy fix and don't know of the second hand is original ,Came with an bulova accutron 214 and a few other old watches.
