Good day all at OF! I was wondering if there is anything suspicious about this Seamaster dial? I suspect it is a redial because the "seamaster" and "automatic" look a bit off but I may be wrong. The crystal is cracked at about 8 this would need replacement. Underneath the crystal ,the dial and markers look clean although I think the second hand is not original. The crown looks original and the case is not overly polished The seller said it is a 552 calibre movement which was recently serviced with a 1 year guarantee. It comes with a rather unattractive strap but with an original buckle for the price of $300. Is it worth buying and replacing the strap and crystal? What ref do you think it is? Pictures from seller and no movements pics Regards
Dial is refinished and hands are wrong. I would not buy that unless you happen to have a spare dial and hands. That said, I would try to pick up the strap and buckle as they have some collector value themselves..
I forgot to add that it looks like there is lume at all the hour markers and "swiss" under the 6 marker but pics are blurry
Thanks Phil for your feedback! The strap has collector value? I thought it looked like a cheap aftermarket one. The seller wont sell strap and buckle separately.
The strap looks like the original ones offered in the 50s. The buckle could go either way but doesn’t look like the fakes I’m used to seeing at least. I guess it doesn’t matter if they won’t sell separately..
I’m not sure if this has ever been raised, but can OF run a toll-free phone line where redialers can call for help when they sense they are about to commit a crime against horology?
There's a good chance that the movement is in poor shape considering the overall condition of the watch and what appears to be some water damage near the 8 o'clock marker.
