Hi All,

I’m about to pull the trigger on a Seamaster « bond ».

I’ve never seen one in real, so it is hard to me to determine the general aspect of this one.

For those who know this model, what is your feeling ? Isn’t it too polished ?

Thanks for your help assessing this one :)

I never liked it that much from photos, but when I tried one in hand I couldn't take it off. It's maybe one of my most worn watches.

That example looks fine to me. Doesn't seem polished or at a maximum lightly so. Bezel has a couple of minor scratches, but hasn't faded. I'd say it's a good looking watch if the price is right.

Mine says hello

Pictures are not the greatest, but it does look like the thin links on the bracelet have been polished in some of the photos. Only thje thinnest portions of the 9-link bracelet (2, 4, 6, and 8) should be polished. Others should be brushed. But this is pretty common because brushing those narrow ones takes more effort and a lot of jewelers dont’t do it right if polishing the bracelet. Rest of the case looks fine.

Unlikely polished. Lots of scratches. So one to wear as a daily. Not to "collect".
Don't overpay it ; specially if no box and papers.

Asking price is 2100€, guess it is a fair price !

Fair price. I'm guessing it's watch only and not a full set, right?

Is it the 2220.80. or the quartz 2541.80.00? As I am learning Omega I cant tell yet.
I just purchased the 2220.80, I love it even more in person. wow

Price seems great for automatic, ok, not a steal for quartz.. Either way, if you do buy this one wear the hell out of it and enjoy....both great refernces

Quartz was a 3 liner, not a 4, so that one is auto, the quartz are missing the 'chronometer' line

Fair yes. Negotiate a bit if you can. Specially if no papers.

It's a 2531.80. "Recent" one.

2220.80 doesn't have the same dial and writing. Red Seamaster, Co-Axial,...

Some early 2531 had only 3 lines. Only the date window can tell you if's a quartz or a mechanical on a picture.

Correct, no more. 2100 why not.

A 2531 is 2600/2900 euros with no papers and better shapes. I guess BB58 worth more than that. I'm not a pro about BB58's value but I would ask more than 700.

Plus the fact that your BB58 is not be serviced for sometimes. This 2531 will need a service at one point. Again 800 more for you if you choose an Omega one.

Go for the 2220.80.00. You won’t regret it.
Why? How is it better that the 2531.80 seen above?

The price is perfectly fair. One of these in good condition as a full set fetches £2,200 all day long so €2,100 (£1,880) is reasonable for a loose watch IMO. As long as it doesn’t need an immediate service that is. That would be circa €350 at its cheapest.

I think the look, the weight and the significance of it being in Casino Royale as well. The waves are lush, and the red “Seamaster” looks really different

personally I feel that’s a very low trader offer for your BB58. But if it feels OK to you go for it.

If the point is to get rid of the Tudor... :)

Take it and use the 700 € to properly serviced the 300.
