Seamaster bezel question

Hi

Friend of mine is looking to buy a previous model seamster 300.

The pre wave 2014-2019. Think it only came in blue or black.

Some of the ones he's looking at appear to have different bezels. They are all listed as ceramic but some appear more black than the others.

Is this a different bezel? Maybe a service one or is it lighting conditions for the pics.

This is the darker bezel.

Someone brought this issue up on the Seamaster group on Facebook. Apparently it’s a common issue among longer-term SMPc owners, and some were able to get it fixed under warranty.

I say longer term, because those owners were complaining about the paint wearing off over time. This issue was fixed with the 2018+ SMP.

So it is a defect then if you look at it that way

When you say 2018+ do you mean on this model or it was solved with the new wave model.

It was an issue with the earlier models on the SMPc. Some owners claim having the issue from the start, and others say wear and tear.

2018+ refers to the new Diver 300M models, and the ceramic bezel insert on those is pristine.

Anytime. Again, this was info stated on the Seamaster FB group. I can’t personally vouch for it, since I have the latest version SMP.
