I recently picked up a SMP 21.32.42.20.04.002 from an online dealer. I have purchased other watches from them before with no problems. I was expecting the red, white and blue box since it was listed as being new, in the original box. Instead I received the watch in a standard omega wooden box. Did they switch boxes on this watch? I will pass this on to one of my daughters so day and would kind of like to have the original packaging.

Thank you. That Blue case is what I was expecting but instead got the wood box.

Did you get the warranty, pictogram, and METAS cards? I suspect this was a gray market watch when first sold and the box did not go with it. The wood boxes are readily available on ebay and other online sellers and they are identical to what Omega issues. I know because I bought one for one of my 90's Seamasters that had a red box that looked like it was dragged behind a car.

The box was sold out of Japan and I compared it in the tiniest detail to a box I received with a watch from an AD. It was identical. I even removed the hardware and compared the backside of the hardware and everything was identical. I suspect it was a box left behind in Japan from someone who bought a new Omega for favorable currency exchange reasons and did not want to declare it coming back to their home country.

Point being, the standard boxes are easy to acquire.

I don't know why you'd get the cards and not the box. Personally, I would return the watch unless I got an amazing deal on it. It will not be easy to find a replacement box. Unless you don't care about the box and then carry on.
