Hi Omega Experts,

I’m just starting to get into vintage Omegas and decided to kick off the collection with this one:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Omega-Se...3b9-4fd7-b108-fb7b42a562e3#vi__app-cvip-panel

I really liked the idea that it’s been in the same family all it’s life, looks to be pretty good shape and comes with the original box etc. I don’t think it’s on the original strap unfortunately. Otherwise looks pretty original to my untrained eye. Price paid was £770.

What do you guys think? Is this a good example at a good price? Would that linen dial be easy to clean up?

Gold plated cases are at the bottom of the Omega food-chain. Box and papers really don't add much value for this level watch.

Worn crown and don't expect the dial "clean up".

Sorry, you overpaid by 2X.

Well, prices are higher in Europe. Bar crown, which is easily repleaceable, it's in good shape, linen dials are always desirable and original papers and known provenance is always a nice plus. I think it's a bit expensive but a good buy if you like it. I would refrain from touching the dial, it doesn't need it.

I also dont think you overpaid 2x. First time buyers love box and papers. If you would put this on chrono you could get EUR 700. Maybe even more with patience. People are willing to pay a premium for B&P.

Thanks for your comments! So you’d say it’s worth buying an original period crown? Could you share any pointers on what to look for? Thank you!

Ok thanks, well that is good to know. Yes at least for me as a new collector I really like the idea of getting such an old watch with its original box, papers and all it’s service receipts from the son of the original owner.
