A friend of mine bought this Seamaster 300 at auction. We are wondering about the hands. Has there ever been a 300 with this kind of hands? Not sure about the reference yet as the watch is at the watchmaker and he hasn't open it yet. Otherwise it looks okay. Holes in the 6 and 12 lume are there and second hand looks okay?

Minute and hour hands are completely wrong regardless of the reference.

But the triangle on the top of the minute hand is missing? And this hands has a thin part next to where the hole is in the hands? More like a Lance/Alpha hands.

They are generinc, old replacement hands, probably put on at a service. Seen the type on loads of vintage watches and they are, as Gator puts it, completely wrong no matter the reference. Not correct for any other Omega either.

Do you think it had sword hands from the beginning? I guess the reference is a 165.024?

In 2012 I compiled and posted my 'quick SM300 guide' on TZUK where my user name is Jack Norman.

Although I have posted this link on this forum before due to the current interest in these watches and for any new members here it is again.

    http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.p...mega-Seamaster-300-including-Military-watches

I can see that some of the pics I 'borrowed' from the internet have gone AWOL - I will try and replace these at some point.

Your quick guide is a must read for anyone considering a 165/166 SM300. Time to expand this into Seamaster 300 Only.:D
