Thanks for the heads up, do you remember what the BIN was? Any idea what a reasonable going price would be?

The BIN on their other formatted auction was $5999. Pretty high for what it is. Thats getting into vintage territory.

So basically these are two Watchco 552s, the sole difference being that the movement started life in a SM300. Which is a fine distinction and pretty meaningless except in theoretical terms. Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather have one with a movement from eg. a late Geneve and not have to regret the loss of the original dial and case.

So they bought 2 new 1660324 cases, removed the case backs, bought 2 new 1660024 case backs, and installed those instead...and advertise them as 166024's...

Yes.....makes you scratch your head a bit, but they are up front in the ebay ad. re. what has been replaced etc. Actually quite like them, as others have remarked. You could wear it and not worry about bashing up a vintage watch........of course depends on what they go for.............

My guess is around US $3.5-4K.

I bought an non date directly from them recently (Marcus and Giverny were really helpful). The price was a lot more reasonable, but of course the movement does not come from a SM300... I don't see the point in buying such a premium for the simple fact that the movement is from a SM300...

Find yourself a 565 movement and an Omega official service Center and ask for a case, dial, hand, and you'll be astonished how cheap they can build it for you...

I also bought one with a 552 movement direct from them when Achim started a thread about these a few months ago.
They wrote to me at the time that they had two movements that Omega had officially allocated to SM300's but I did not want pay the extra.
I think a Watchco 300 is what it is and either appeals to you or not. The idea of paying extra for the documentation goes over my head.

Can you please expand on this, as in provide more info. From what I gather is, I can buy a cal 552 movement, then I take it into official service center and tell them I want to get this into an SM 300 case and use dial and hands from SM300. Do I need to know some super secret handshake to get this service? Could you share approximate costs? There are some pretty cheap cal 552's for sale.

?

I wear a vintage watch every day without any fear of bashing it. I don't take any precautions and in the past 20 years Ive never had an issue.
