Stumbled on a almost newish looking (if one can look past the bezel) SM300 165.024 , 26186xxx serial, CB case . Movement looks new and never serviced. Nice tan / cream lume (with dots at 6/12), nice hands, nice case. Bracelet is amazing with last ends on each side of clasp EXPANSION. Bezel is shot.

Looking for Crown/Tube Gaskets in order top save original Crown

It has traveled the last 55 years WAY be better than me (also a 68 model) ; )

Nice catch. I do think the last of the small triangle watches (25/26m serial, small triangle, sword hands, flat top 1+4 bezel) seem to age very well, often with lovely looking lume.

Hahaha. Thank you!

I am always looking. Luck being the Intersection of Preparation and Opportunity. I have had more opportunities where the watch kitty was overdrawn and was not so lucky then ; ) . Opportunity also comes in bunches, quite often it is a desert.

Indeed: the over- all aging (lume and bezel) is obviously different to the later models. Did Omega change to a less 😲 (uv?)resistant lume???
The lume of my 68 - 27.xxx.xxx is olive.

You've been busy @Linesiders

You should see the Tudor side of the house ; )

My speculation on following 60s Tudor, Rolex, and Omega (in that order in volume/focus), the lume in the 66-68 models were more prevalent to get that mold/fungi plots and that in 68 the compounds changed. They were always changing and trying new things, which is why you can see different lume materials on same year watches (I have seen several different lume types on 64/65 Tudor 7928 for example).

The same can be seen with Speedmasters. Often the mid-late 60’s examples have beautiful yellow lume, but from -69 onwards, many of them are a minty green and don’t have the same attraction.

There’s such a clear pattern I don’t think it can be attributed to ageing of individual watches, rather different batches of dials possibly used slightly different mixes for their lume?

I don t like the yellow lume touch on vintage Omegas.

Yeah I guess the attractiveness is subjective

Nice piece! Those B4 bezels tend to age most of all types, you would hardly see B3 bezel i this state, but B4 very often..
I`m a bit concerned about the movement serial, it doesn`t fi to any range in my db, but it is not bulettproof of course.
I just dont have a match for 261xxxxxx.... it`s JAN68 made indeed.

I have no reason to believe it is not legit - everything was too nice to be cobbled together and it rarely, if ever was opened. Another partial data point - too bad no B&P, which is really needed to flesh out batches . Good info on the bezels ~! My last two were 67s and much better condition!

Would need more / better photos to tell for (99%) certain but from what I can see it is spot on. Tudor is my focus.
