It’s a CB, should be an HF

From what I know, most D-type "open 5" bezel were on CB cases...

Agree, that most early civilian CB cased 165.024's had the type 4 bezel.
But as Todd indicated, the issue with the OP example is first and foremost the serial number and which parts it left the factory with.

Serial 2347x doesn't match a CB cased 165.024. At all, unless there was a yet unknow batch of this range saved and used later on. IMO not likely in this case.
Serial 2347x is a narrow, but ok, range for very early non-subreference 165024 HF cased ones, i.e. production late 1966. They should have bezel type 3, not type 4 as on the ebay one. Stick hands are ok for these.
CB cased ones were not produced before second half of 1967. The first in the serial 255x range (a very few also in the 247x range), and they really should have the sword/gladiator handset, besides the type 4 bezel.

So parts have been swopped IMO, properly during service back in the day....or it's just a put-together one 😒
Either way, this is not a collector grade example in regards to authenticity, but if you like it, go for it.

Thanks for the detailed response @kox !

I don't think for the price it would be collector grade 😀 just a nice piece to wear and appreciate.

Lewis WatchCo can sort that bezel lume out for you . Using aged matched lume with the hands or indices. It will look genuine.
For that money it will be a nice non watchco.
You owe Kox a beer !

Hello guys I'm About to buy this one, I live here In Guatemala, and find it in a very rare old store, Im worried about the Bracelet looks to cheap Nd the luminol or "tritium" in the minute and hour hands, but all the other things "A" of Waterproof, 165.024, "CERTIFIED", 60 Clicks on Bezel, and a Mark on the glass with the omega logo on the plexiglass are ok, Any Opinions!!! Please!

Nice looking BT dial and flat link bracelet. Potentially a very nice watch.

In regards to the initial watch, I'm still a bit indecisive (one of my many flaws).

I'm a little put off by the lume potentially being potentially re-applied but also as it seems to have started crumbling around the edges, and the information provided by Kox (thanks again) showing that the watch has had service parts replaced during its lifetime or is pieced together.

The seller states it was purchased via an estate sale about 6 months ago, but again not a truth indicator of originality.

Do you guys think it is a goer? Oh and the bottom dollar is 4500, but the sale would be through paypal and even though the seller has extensive eBay feedback, I'm not 100% sure how trusting I am. How protected would I be if things went awry?

Being indecisive can work out if you make the right decision in the end, rather than jumping headfirst into the wrong one!
This 165024 may not a collector grade example but it's still nice looking to me. It's getting difficult to find these without any work done to them and if you do find it you will more than likely be paying the premium for it. So I would weigh whether or not it will bug you long term that it's not completely an original example, but a decent one at a decent price. If you want an original one, just keep hunting, biding your time, and building your funds. That 4.5k can go a long way to a nicer collector grade in the future.

Amy thoughts about this one? Serial 28xxxx. 1039 bracelet w after market endlinks. What do you think of the missing lume on the hand? What’s the effect of the watch value? Would you have someone to fix it?

Oh, it’s a cal. 565

Does it have an extract of the archives? Since this model is often put together, an extract to verify that the movement belongs with the model is vert important IMO. It looks good though, and I know who is selling it 😉

But check that everything works together: Serial on movement with sword typ hands, font on insert, ref/date (if stamped inside caseback) etc. That´s what I did before pulling the trigger on my sm300. Luckily the extract confirmed everything 😀

Ok. I have tried to. I don’t know if you’re a friend of the seller, but what’s your honest opinion? It sure have been for sale a while. So I’m thinking - what am I missing...
