Here is what I found :
p5.jpg

It says the "special/spezial" case is OK up to 6bars, like it is explained in your documentation (either pressure fit or screwed).

Maybe the « spezial » is the calendar.
The text in my previous post refers to all those type of press in cases bearing a gasket.
Imho, the 2975 was not better for waterproofness. I have never seen this model being advertised as being special, it was just the new model. What made it disappear after one year is the the arrival of the 550 caliber.
But it is a hell of a watch, which is not so common. It rivaled the Constellation.

Yes, it is a very good looking watch, love the shape. And I actually prefer it to a Constellation!

Omega still calls the 2975 a "Special" in their database:

Here is an Italian ad swiped from Chrono24 where they are again stating the watch is "Special," though this is likely the successor model as the Rome Olympics were in 1960 (though the ad shows a non-date version):

(Ad from a Chrono24 listing)

This exact case shape, albeit with the upgrade to screw-in back and reference 166.010, stayed in the Omega line-up until 1968. Still not quite sure why Omega calls it the "Special." But I suppose it is generalized marketing as an extra tough dress watch. Also they appear to have always been sold on the BOR originally, as all the ads seem to mention that and not a strap option.
Best to all,
T.
