    Hey folks,

at the bottom of my 1958 Seamaster is printed "SWISS" which indicates a Radium dial in my understanding.

Now I have seen another 2913 with a printing "SWISS MADE". Is that ok for an original dial or is an early service dial? Does anyone have an idea? Thx a lot for your comments.

We would really need to see the dial and watch.
"SWISS" does not denote Radium, merely that the movement is Swiss and is likely cased in the US.

SWISS is not denoting Radium? Ok, that is another thing that´s different from Rolex. In 50ies and early 60ies all SWISS dials on Rolexes are Radium.

Unfortunately I have not got the promised scans from the owner yet. I only have this bad shot. I hope there is more to come.

Swiss Made is the norm for the 2913 dials. The dials with "Swiss" only would make me take a closer look to make sure it is not refinished more so than if it said "Swiss Made"

Regarding the watch you pictured - the dial is not only original but looks to be in nice shape.

Ok, good to know. What is your impression of the bezel? Looks glossy like bakelite.

If SWISS MADE is the standard I am a bit anxiuous of the dial of my own watch as it only says SWISS.

Your dial looks good but your bezel is refinished.

I am unsure about the bezel of the one you are considering and will want to see clearer pictures.

Yeah, I know about my bezel.

I will post scans of the other watch when I have got them.

The bezel looks original from the pictures provided. The caseback though is quite worn out. Dial is clearly original.

Yep, of course, caseback is a mess. But if bezel is ok, it might be a good replacement for mine.

Further above you said that my bezel is refonished. I understand this like my metal bezel ring is original but the original bakelite has been replaced by some synthetical plastic material ( sorry, do not know a better expression in english)

Yes original ring but the printing (including the black finish) is redone.

And finally I found out why I was irritated with the watch. It is not a ref. 2913 but a ref. 14755 as the minute hand has got the arrow tip and not the hour hand as ref. 2913 has.

Nope the 2913 went from -1 to -8 and these hands are correct for some 2913s-

Oh, that´s interesting. I thought the change came with the new refernce. So also some later 2913 have an arrow minute hand. Good to know.

Thank you for all these details, MSN.
