Recent acquisition. I don't know too much about this watch other than its circa late 60s and all original parts, but if you have info on it I would love to hear. I figured the forum would be interested in knowing this example exists and someone has it. Keeps [very close to] perfect time so I would assume its been serviced at some point. I considered possibly tracking down a "new" orange hand for it but prices are astronomical, plus the way it is now sort of adds character. Pictures don't quite do it justice. The strap is a handmade elephant leather strap with orange stitching off of eBay.

There must be something wrong:

A Seamaster 168.022 should have a chronometer calibre 564, cal. 563 is no chronometer

A SM 168.022 should have "chronometer officially certified on the dial"

Is it possible you have misread some of the numbers?

It's possible but the movement has 563 stamped on it. Here's some more pics.

It is a 166.028 - so all is OK, it is the non chronometer version - you had read the second (=lower) reference number wrongly...

I love that second hand, I was just discussing the blue second hand on the 166.088 and 166.087 Seamasters.

Nice watch! Second hand looks great in your photo.

I was just looking on Ebay and considering a similar one with a stardust dial. It's in such good condition though, I'm wondering if it is a redial? He has it listed as a 168.022, but the 2nd number is 166.028 like yours. Seller has pretty low feedback too.
Thoughts anyone?

Heres an old thread with a couple examples, and I saw a stardust dial go on the Reddit watch exchange last year sometime when I was researching my own.

Thanks. The one from Reddit shows the colors correctly, since the case is silver and the second hand is red on the one I'm considering. Cyclops crystal too, though I'm not sure if that was original or not.

Hi, a really wonderful watch. If you ever decide to part with it please add me to the line of prospective buyers!

I think these came with either sparkle dial or brushed dial. Cool watch that is representative of its time.

I used to have the same watch. Stopped wearing it when Covid hit. Yours looks all correct to me, enjoy the watch. The dial has concentric circles, not something you see a whole lot.
