I bought this many years ago while living in Hong Kong and I met a well known collector who was selling most of his collection. I bought some speedmasters from him, and at the time he pressed me to buy this Seamaster as he told me it was very rare as the bezel is original. He also told me he had had it for many years, and had never worked on it.

I am selling as it is outside my collecting criteria.

It looks to me like the bezel is original, and also the whole watch has a wonderful patina, and looks nothing like the rubbish that I found on C24 when researching this.

I am no expert in these watches, but from what I have learned, I think my friend is correct about the bezel. Not damage free, but original.

I have tried to compare this, but there are none on the market with the original bezel. So I have added a small percentage on my cost and offer it here.

To my knowledge, this watch has not been serviced in at least 20 years - I recommend servicing it. There is also some very minor debris under the glass, which would be best removed. So I am selling this (rather wonderful) watch as is.

Watch is in UK and can be in the USA after 7 - 14th May.

Price is £7850 - Cash face to face, Bitcoin or Wire transfer to my Hong Kong Bank Account.

I have been asked to investigate the Geiger / radiation readings. As you can see I have a cheap meter, and I set a speedmaster to time from two minutes after turning the meter on to settle at background radiation levels.

Here it is just turned on, and I waited a few minutes and took this picture. Background reading after two minutes:

Immediately after placing on the Seamaster:

After 3 mins

4mins;

Here is the highest:

Seamaster removed:

So yes, it reacts to the Geiger

Some brighter photos.

The crystal appears very old, and all the white marks are crazing or dust. I have not opened this watch, apart from the movement photos.

I cannot remember seeing one with an original bezel in this good a condition.

I have even booked a slot at Simon Freese Watchmakers should you want it serviced fast (and well of course!)

So, did I miss the mention of the sweep seconds hand being fairly new, by comparison? Is it the correct style? Great watch, by the way.

Thanks. As to the hand, the only image I can find is this, sold by Romain Rea two years ago:

I will keep looking....

Yes a speedmaster.
Watch will be in USA next week if that helps

This is why with a F2F I always first 'conclude business' before opening the watch roll and revealing the other available's inside!

GLWTS 😀

This is by far the cheapest one I can see, and hopefully we can find a good home for it - note the original bezel.

UK Sale, or USA. Europe is tough, its better for you to take a day trip from Europe

Only selling as its not a speedmaster. Trying to clean up the collection!

So the dial has one T mark, in a different paint
As the watch is going abroad I decided to service it and have Simon Freese take Geiger readings.
Haven’t got photos, but here is the sum of research.

1. The watch before disassembly shows strong Radium reaction through the crystal
2. Loose, the dial shows slight elevated levels
3. Loose, the Hands show elevated levels.
4. The empty case shows no elevated levels
5. The hands when enclosed in case show higher levels

my conclusion, as an amateur is that the hands are radium and the dial is tritium, marked after regulations changed, OR the dial is radium and it was marked in error.

interesting that the readings increased under glass, but it could also be that Simon was using my Geiger counter and he is not familiar with it. I have found it crucial where to place the item to get the reading.
