It's funny how sometimes the most undesirable things can catch my eyes. I would like to add a day wearer to my collection. Something that really flies under the radar and doesn't break the bank. But has that retro vibe and gives off that 80s feel with a movement that's a workhorse. Nothing pretty but gets the job done when I'm not wearing my speedy. What do you guys think of the 1022? This is the example I'm looking at

I'm no expert, but the seller does state it's been "restored to its original showroom condition". I rather think the showroom referenced used a sharpie for the "Seamaster" dial text.

Maybe look at this one - elady has a pretty good reputation http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-OMEGA-Geneve-Day-Date-Cal-1022-Automatic-Mens-Watch-166-0169-BF301182/322467765818?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid=222007&algo=SIC.MBE&ao=2&asc=40656&meid=97c969389d8448c79b3a15d4aa62f1d7&pid=100005&rk=3&rkt=6&sd=112375651237Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

The cost is lower and it also has conventional lugs allowing for easy strap/bracelet changes.

I like these, why do you call them undesirable? :(

However, yes, the one you linked has a bad dial.

By undesirable I mean they aren't overly valuable. I do love them.. I just want one that's affordable haha. I'm just getting into collecting I still only own my speedy reduced. A+ on the outfit/watch combo btw

Without trying to be unhelpful, as I've said - I'm not an expert. What I would say is you are looking at the low-cost, lower condition (A/B or B) items in this sellers stock. You said you were looking for a day wearer aka a beater, not a collector grade piece.

In my opinion, thats exactly what these are. Whether they qualify as "really good deals" is down to subjective judgement when compared to comparable pieces from other sources.

You'll have to do your own research on that score.

    Good hunting:)

That is true. They aren't collectors pieces at all. I would like to get into something nice one day but for now it's just about expanding what I have. I guess I just have to put in work to find exactly what I want. And for the price I'd be happy to use it as a beater. Thanks for the help and happy hunting!
