Dirty, hard to scratch in the corner or rust?

If it’s water resistant, nothing an ultra soft toothbrush and some dish detergent won’t take off. I’ve been doing this for years on my divers, but please use your discretion as to potential water penetration.

Thanks. The movement is probably toast. I am okay with that.

Thanks. I thought so too. SS would be hard to rust like that.

Any other pics of the dial? The shape peeked my curiosity of which watch it is. As @doretta59 suggested, soapy water and a toothbrush will clean that up nicely. But pull the movement before you attempt the sink scrub if you are capable. If not, I have found Naptha (lighter fluid) and a toothbrush with a paper towel can garner similar results and won’t require running under water. Your fingernail or a toothpick under the paper towel soaked in Naptha can get into the nooks and crannies

Ahh yes, as @JwRosenthal suggested, a toothpick for that humanoid mung in the crevices is an absolute must. ::stirthepot::

P.S. - Never tried lighter fluid before, I’ll give that a go on the next victim!

I hate it when OPs remove photos making threads completely useless for others. 🫨

Remember not everyone is in the same timezone.

The whole point of posting photos and not links, is to have a record of what is discussed.

I understand your fear of people jumping your claim- but then don’t post pics until after you lock down the deal as anyone can screen shot the images you posted and do a reverse image search and find it if they want it badly enough. Once it’s on the web it’s forever.

Turned out to be a redial, and a pretty good one at that(but noticable in the right light). Won't buy, so the case condition is not important, even though it's fine.

Thanks for the help everyone. Apologies for making the thread useless, next time I will try to lock down the deal before posting.

Only if it trends. There are quite a few holes on archive dot org and not all are from copyright take down notices.

Hopefully the OP puts it back. Otherwise this thread will become full of copyrighted cats.

Here is the useful part which gave away the redial:
Look at how crappy it looks. Defo a redial. The lesson for me is to check the logos on Seiko's carefully.

A friend of mine who's really good at painting was able to tell right away.. me.. not so much.

At that level of magnification, anything will look terrible. I wish I could have seen the original pictures. I'm always interested in learning about Seikos.

Weirdly enough.. there are a few pictures and the dial looks different/redone on only one. I am still trying to check if it could be some compression issue/etc... but the shapes are very different.

I would posit it's even possible that the watch was photoed with the original dial, then the dial was swapped with a crappy redialed one, the hands aligned perfectly to the previous positions and then the bad photo was made...

Who does such things...

Dude- show the pics, send the link and actually get some opinions- it’s why you are here- to allow us to enable you to make poor financial choices.

I asked the seller for better photos for now. I will see what happens. The current pics are crappy anyway.

I am making pretty bad decisions already 😁 gotta sell off a lot of those impulse buys

Sounds like too much effort. More likely something related to the angles or some compression artifacts like you mention.
