Wow...needless to say I'll be just watching this one!

The pictures are cool too -- my immediate thought is that they are deliberately taken like this...possibly with Mr. Carpenter holding the watch himself? Probably not likely, but it gives it a more personal touch...

Interesting that this dial has a round O in Omega and the recent Schirra one that sold with a slightly later serial has an oval O, which I thought was for early serial watches. I don't know these well enough to say if that means anything though.

Was thinking the same. My understanding is the first approx. 100 watches were printed with an oval "O" and "Speedmaster" centered slightly different than the later oval "O" dials... notice the stem in 'p':

😵‍💫😲🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Would be cool if this one could end up in the OF collection…. 😁

We can all chip in and then share it. I can contribute the first $100, and then volunteer to hold onto it for the first year before it rotates to the next OF member. 😜

Was this the Gold " Apollo 11 tribute " Omega Speedmaster which was wringly numbered on the back ? 😕
Carpenter was listed to receive n°6

.
Edit: Just checked notes with FratelloWatches / Speedytuesday, Robert-Jan acknowledged Gordo Cooper's Gold "A11 tribute" Speedmaster BA 145.012 was misnumbered on the caseback (mission-wise not in numbered Speedmaster)

Stunning!

.. still looking for a 'non Astronaut BA' for myself as the original twin to my 2019 Moonshine Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Speedy...

Seems to be more difficult than ever 🙁

Because this topic needs another time-period photo of former NASA-astronaut US Navy aquanaut Scott Carpenter wearing his Gold "A11 tribute" Speedmaster. Exactly 31 astronauts received such a Gold Speedmaster, thus far I've found photos of 18 of them wearing it after November 25, 1969.
Remember Carpenter was the first NASA astronaut to wear a wrist watch in space (bespoke 24 hours dial Breitling Navitimer on MA-7 Aurora 7 in May 1962) and later gave feedback on the Rolex Submariner and Rolex Sea Sweller while doing ocean research in the US Navy SeaLab habitats.
This June 1972 shows "bug-breeder farmer" former-astronaut Scott Carpenter wearing his 1969 Gold "A11 tribute" Omega Speedmaster n° 6 on his ranch in Santa Paula north of Los Angeles - California.

Maybe the seller will donate some of the proceeds to build a homeless shelter in Scott Carpenter Park. ::stirthepot::
