Hello all, Seems like Pennsylvania is a hotspot for us lately. This time, to Columbia to deliver some zinc ingots. I was dispatched to the Firestone Mount Union plant close by to pick up some roofing materials. They're a bitch to strap down! Here are some of the sights I managed to snap. There are messages everywhere! Got a 16 km log jam heading north on I-81 before entering Wilkes-Barre, PA..lost 2 hours there. If there is one annoyance in this job, this is it. Nothing like spending the night in Mexico for a good rest after 10 gruelling hours of driving! And a beautiful greasy spoon breakfast before heading for the border crossing! Thanks for looking. Cheers!
LOL the border crossing to Mexico. When I was at school at SUNY Buffalo, driving up from the city it was always fun looking at the names of towns off the exits. "Hey, we're passing Rome! We must be moving really quickly, just a little while ago we passed Mexico!"
PA Dutch soul food...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scrapple. No self respecting eastern PA diner or truck stop would refuse to offer this delicacy with eggs and home fries.
Just had to look up Columbia Pennsylvania on Google Maps. About the first thing that comes up as you zoom in is the National Watch & Clock Museum.
"... The mush is formed into a semi-solid congealed loaf, ..." mmmmmmm... My wife and her siblings always reminisce about scrapple from their childhood.
On my next trip, I’ll make it an issue to.. - Sample Scrapple - Absolutely visit the Watch and Clock museum
Can't get it out here in Chicago land. My wife thinks it's disgusting but I grew up on it. I have a recipe with non disgusting ingredients that i need to try.
There looks to be a lot of trucks in that traffic jam. Over a distance of 16km there must be hundreds.
Note that ending your life is also changing it - change is not always good! I say this as a heart attack survivor...
