·Woke up this morning to a direct message from someone I don't know here on OF - and the message now seems to have been removed from my inbox on OF (??) - suggesting that if I was still hunting for a 16mm UG buckle, I reach out to someone named "Matt" who might have one for sale. The message gave me Matt's email as [email protected]. I sent "Matt" an email inquiring about the buckle, and got back an email from Matt (with an email signature suggesting an address in Texas). He included two pics of a buckle in fair condition (even though he said it was in "excellent" condition with "original packaging" (??)), and with a ridiculous ask of $385. He also insisted (twice...) it was 16mm inside, when it looked much more like 14mm to my eyes. We went back and forth, and with my "antennae" buzzing and having a vague feeling that I seen that buckle before, I found what pretty clearly appears to be a listing for the same buckle on Ebay from a seller in Canada - at an even higher "Buy it now" price of nearly $500, and describing it as 14mm inside, 16mm outside. I emailed "Matt" back that I wasn't comfortable with what I was seeing in these emails or the discrepancy with the Ebay listing. Haven't yet heard back from him. And can't with certainly say this is a scam, of course. But all VERY weird and sketchy.
Be careful out there!
