Agreed. I don't recall one selling with so much provenance before. Super clean and the original crown too.

Bidding looks strong already.

the geophysic full set is my personal favourite, or the seaplane Patek.

The seller has an interesting username too, windwatches 馃榾

Such a well known pillar of the vintage world without an eBay presence until the 19th of March 2020 ? Sorry, but that is a little weird ...

Yes, very good of you. Always best to post a snip as URL often go stale ... For future reference on OF, here is a pic of dial.

It's a little weird that not all the documents shown in the auction photographs are included in the sale.

Ah, I'm sorry, I had not looked that closely and had not appreciated that.

That does seem unusual and potentially very misleading.

Is it just the watch that is for sale?

I won鈥檛 expect the personal articles like passport should come with the watch. The boxes and papers will be there. And I Guess one can request for a copy of passport and other personal articles as well.

They're only providing copies of some things, but really have nothing to do with the Polar flights or the watch anyway.
They are all to do with South American routes, and dated 1952 (letter, before the polarouter was made) and 1959 (unrelated).
A bit of a "distraction" that seems to be working, judging from the price 馃榾

205,000kr hammer price (+20% provisional fees). Blimey!

I was very keen on this one but it went beyond what I was ready to pay ... I did not expect it to go that high! looks like the SAS is one of those things that will never be in my collection!

Wow- 21k USD.
Is this a record price for a polerouter?

Surprisingly, not.

There may be others but this gold Polerouter with cloisonn茅 dial of St Paul sold at Phillips for 32,500 CHF in 2016.

I have done some
Reading in cloisonn茅 dials and I think they are amazing. Does anyone know if these dials were offered at retail stores or where they custom ordered from specialty artist?

From what I鈥檝e read some were created in common themes like jungles, ships, animals, flowers, by the artists working for the dial makers such as Stern and Beyeler, while others were made by the dial maker (and their artist) for specific manufacturers' customers in mind like kings, etc. I don鈥檛 know if retailers stocked them
