Softener and dryer sheets are likely not the only culprits but can aide in smudges if the wrong amounts are used. I use both and love wearing hoodies and have never experienced smudging. There is a lot more at play than those two items- how clean your hoodie currently is, if you use lotion, how oily your skin is, and the material your hoodie is made of: does the fabric absorb or does it keep whatever dirt/substance on the surface allowing it to transfer to other objects.

What many people don't realize are that these are basically lubricants... and yes, I've seen too many used. For example three dryer sheets instead of the one specified. You see a lot of horrifying things in an apartment with respect to laundry. I have a couple of neighbors who routinely dry their clothes on "high" for over an hour. When I use the same dryer, I set it on medium for the default 45 minutes.

Dumb question(s):
Is smudging from the same hoodie or multiple hoodies?
Do you use lotion on your arms?

I don’t wear any lotion. Two different hoodies that we both clean at the time. Unless it’s fabric softener I don’t know what it could be? I put my old Hamilton on and no smudges with the same hoodies at the same time. Super weird.

I just wipe the glass with a cloth, or a shirt or even a sweater and make it clean. That's it. Never really bother with smudges 😉

Don't listen to the others, it has nothing to do with your skin or your clothing. It's magic moonwatch grease.

Good for you. Doesn't work for me though. To remove the smudges I need to use a microfiber or lens cleaning cloth. Normal fabric doesn't work, just pushes the grease around. Watches are probably similar to glasses, laptops, tablets and cell phones: some people are bothered by a grease-covered screen, others are not.

Have you ever tried to breathe a bit on the watch before wiping? Just to put a little bit of fog / moisture. That many times helps a lot.
The point is I don't do it anyway, usually don't pa attention, unless the glass is really smudgy, which is not very often.

What I would try is to wipe the crystal with a cloth and a very small drop of surgical spirit. That should take care of any greases and oils and see how that works.
