Personally I tend to automatically think of Ferragamo as a style brand, but confess I know next to nada about *their watches. I've had mostly positive experiences with TAG, but if you want new they can usually be had at a discount, or sometimes for an outright bargain on the pre-owned market.

I will say, I liked the pair of Ferragamo dress shoes I had - proll' not much help there.

Good luck and let us know what you go with!

But they both share the same quartz machine? So technically no difference

Maybe they do I'm not sure but in my opinion that F1 style Tag has decades of pedigree compared to the fashion branded watch plus the recognized name in watches.

For shoes, ferragamo.

They may be both quartz but i do not think they have the same movement. Am not sure.

maybe if it were an LV watch, might be similar movement since TAG and LV belong to the same conglomerate.

that said, if just given the two options, i would pick the TAG. At least i will get to relive my youth when that was the “it” watch.

Regarding the two I’d probably go for the tag as well but it’s you who is going to be wearing it so if you like the ferragamo that’s what I’d do. I should mention I see used ferragamo pop up locally at quite a discount second hand. Same with Tag for that matter

There is more to a watch than the (cheap quartz) movement. Buying a Ferragamo watch seems like a bad joke and you would have to pay me more than $880 to wear it. That said, personally I don't find the Tag Hauer particularly appealing either, it makes me think of billboards in airports with celebrities I don't recognize. But at least it has a recognizable heritage.

Are there any other options?

6 months from now you will be glad you bought the TAG 😉

Service capability and parts in the future are on TAGs side big time.

I would go with the TAG for the already mentioned reasons. I find the Ferragamo a little pricey.

If that's the case, just buy the watch that you like more. You are going to be the one who will be buying and wearing it, not us.

When I first saw this thread, I thought," Does Tag Heuer make shoes?"
I agree, Ferragamo is a fashion brand and Tag has a watch making history dating back to the mid 19th century. Of course the French
luxury goods conglomerate LVMH, now owns most of TAG. That being said, I too, like the TAG better as a watch, but, part of me was hoping maybe, just maybe, you'd be willing to go a little farther and consider ....... ok, maybe not, but the Monaco is a Tag Heuer classic icon.

Tag has a history in watches from 1985. Heuer has a history going back to 1860.

Picky picky, but, I stand corrected.
But visit, Tag Heuer website and they state, I quote, "Since 1860, TAG Heuer has embodied avant-garde, precision and bold style, that have marked the world history of the watch industry. We invite you to explore our legacy, through our timepieces and innovations."

didnt the companies merge? So they can be said to have a shared history?

like patek. Patek and Czapek was founded in 1839. And Philippe only came into the picture in 1851. But patek philippe claims 1839 as founding year, and rightly so.

Neither. I'd save the money on this one. Or move up and get the Hamilton panda.

Ultimately it's your choice to buy and wear what you like. But as others have noted, the Ferragamo is a fashion watch and that design is ultimately a derivative mishmash of several higher end watches. Looks like you're trying too hard. The TAG is more classic, is from a more-respected watch brand, and will ultimately hold its value better than the Ferragamo, even though it's more expensive. But like I said, it really comes down to what you want to see on your wrist.

Tag may very well still be the "it" watch in your tropical paradise. Well at least with the common folk like me 😁
