Malcolm Young of AC/DC has passed away from complications of dementia. So sad. One of the metal greats. Big loss to the music world. And another reminder that brain disease can be deadly.

This is quite a nice accolade. When I read your post, I was trying to think about whether I feel this way about any band/group, and I listen to a lot of music. If it's not too personal, may I ask what makes you feel this way?

Agreed! I’ve loved this band since I was a young kid - they were a common thread for many of us at school, whether you were a punk, a rocker, or an indie kid whatever, everyone liked AC/DC.
Sad he’s gone 🙁

Music, especially the heavier side of rock 'n roll, was a huge part of my formative years. I bonded with some friends in like grade 7 who are still good friends today, and AC/DC got a lot of airtime in those days.. Kicking around drinkin' in the parking lot, road trips, camping, house parties. When ever I hear an old AC/DC classic, it takes me back to that time.

Maybe the greatest straight rock n roll band of all time. The music never gets old.

I was lucky enough to be in my mid to late teens in the late 70s and saw most of the great rock bands at that time. AC/DC were one of the most prolific touring bands back then so I saw them 5 times in the space of about 8 years. I can remember making and wearing a black armband to school when Bon Scott died. Venues, in those days, were very different from today where a large concert had an audience of 5,000 or so and having been right at the front at one gig (yes, getting showered with Angus' sweat). I couldn't hear a thing for a couple of days.

RIP Malcolm and thanks for the memories from a Pomme now living in your country.

I also have been showered by Angus’s sweat... I went home and took 5 showers he’s a dirty little man 😉.

AC/DC influence was huge seeing people in their 60’s singing along with Grand kids to every song is not something you often see and something I saw often at their shows. They where also a band that truly had fun whenever they played.

Malcom never got as much respect as he should of unfortunately
"I don't think any bastard knows who I am anyway..." - Malcom Young

Thank you sir, for giving us a good time, we salute you!

I will leave you with the best AC/DC quote of all time. "I'm sick and tired of people saying that we put out 11 albums that sound exactly the same. In fact, we've put out 12 albums that sound exactly the same." - Angus

By far the best overall show from a band I have seen live. It was ~20 years ago, and at the time I thought they were pretty old, and I was glad to see them before they retired. Thankfully they stayed around a lot longer. Sad to see Macolm pass away. I will definitely salute him tomorrow when the wife and kid are out of the house, and I can turn the preamp up to '11'.
