http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Rar...990656716?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item1c2b9ae8ccPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

The 2004 service at Omega included having the dial done and the case refinished to take care of some dents, otherwise it would have been a pretty cool 1952 Cal 352 YG OT2652

That said, there are some excellent macro shots of the watch including closeups of the RG regulator that look really cool and are worth saving after the ad vanishes

Should not pay for that because the redialers forgot to put "constellation" on the dial

Yes a shame about this watch - poorly refinished dial and a case that has been polished a bit much - even the observatory was polished. There aren't that many cal. 352 connies around and if you factor in watches that have been melted for gold value and watches like this that have not been tastefully reconditioned then you are looking at a small number that remain available in original condition.

As an aside, it is when I see watches like this that I feel even more strongly that watches shouldn't be polished at least if the intent is resale - I suppose the goal is to make it more attractive to potential buyers but you turn away the serious vintage collector and more often than not they're the ones willing to pay good money for a piece being sold in "as found" condition.

The original dial could have been a globemaster without the constellation script but with this watch who cares as the redial job is just so bad!

Yea in the ad the seller goes on about the Globemasters mentioning them but given the dial was redone in 2004, likely well before the seller ever looked into the fact that the dial didn't have Constellation on it, it could have been either way originally.

With these cases being screwback, I'd have sort of imagined they might have been a bit more resistant to movement corrosion and dial snot as a result, but I guess nothing's perfect.

More likely sent to a jeweler but never made it to omega in bienne. The invoice doesn't look like bienne invoice.

Yea, I purposely didn't post pictures of the invoice here since he left his full name and home address on it, along with photos of the other $10k odd worth of stuff he has that a burglar might consider worth stealing in his other listings. Hopefully he has either a large gun, or a large dog. Or a large dog with a gun.

Or a large gun that shoots dogs. Or a gun that shoots large dogs.

Not that anyone would shoot a dog, I was referring to the dog as the ammunition.

Well, now we know how much it costs to trash a Constellation. This fellow's watchmakers can do it very efficiently for $140.

I take that back - it looks like a swatchgroup receipt from 2004. And the invoice was for $530. If it was indeed sent to Bienne then it is one of the worst redial jobs to come out of there - they don't do them inhouse but still a terrible job.

Yes, this is a surprise to many. I recently commented to someone who sent a cherished piece to Bienne for refurbishment to include refinishing the dial. Although too late to stop the process, he did not have it back yet and was surprised to learn that the dial was at risk.
This was no surprise to me as when last in London as saw scores it not hundreds of refinished dials done by Omega where no effort was made to follow the original script or configuration. Many shops believing if it was done by Omega it was as good as original and therefore fine. My understanding is that Omega does not even actually refinish these themselves, (unless it something that they have new dials still in stock) but sends them out to independent contractors.

No clue as to whether this watch was originally a Globemaster or not. Since the dial was redone and could have originally been a Constellation dial, the only way to know if the original delivery was to the USA would be to look for the import mark of "OXG" on the balance plate near the regulator:

These are almost always hand punched on the Globemasters.

Of course, on this eBay watch, those pictures are out of focus.

What a hideous dial job. Someone should be ashamed of themselves,

Although as clear as mud, I'm inclined to believe OXG is not there

Then I would say it is not a US market Globemaster, unless the import mark is there.

Adding the copies of paperwork for this watch after removing owner identifying information
