Rolex shortage finally ending?

Just been to a watch shop at The Parisian hotel and casino in Macao and came across this in the window:

Yup, a Panda Daytona. There was another one in a cabinet in the store along with a couple of Subs and a few Datejusts. I asked the salesperson if these watches were just for display only and he replied that they were available for purchase 😮
I suspect that it might be true as you can still see protective wrapping around the watch.

So, this begs the question:
Is the Rolex shortage finally over? Are long waiting times now a thing of the past for stainless steel sports Rolex? I'd be interested to see what the recent experience of others is.

Edit:
Just done some research on the retailer. "Royalty Watch Group" is a Singapore based company that specializes in sourcing high end time pieces for clients. So it's not a Rolex AD as such but a grey market dealer. Surprised to see one at luxury resort. Guess it was too good to be true seeing a Daytona on offer at retail. Apologies if I've wasted anyone's time looking at this post.

I was offered a 40mm Explorer 1 as a walk in a few weeks ago but that’s a world away from a Daytona. I can’t believe that was for open sale to any person walking in

Are you sure it wasn't a grey dealer?

Unless I walk into an AD with cases full of watches, like the old days, no, It’s not over.

The grey market of the Daytonas is going low now around 20K even 19K now more and more for sale , waiting the phone call to pay retail.

Walked past a Rolex boutique at The Londoner hotel and casino in Macau today. A few people waiting in a queue to get in. Watches in window displays with "Exhibition Only" signs. Guess things haven't really changed.

I think you would find it very difficult to find a 116500LN (ceramic bezel 2016+) for $19k to $20k. Current retail for newest model is $16.9k. Preowned Daytona's are not going for bargain prices.

I'd seriously consider adding a Rolex to my collection if I could actually walk in and buy one off the shelf. Until that changes, probably not for me.

You pretty much can walk in and buy some models off the shelf.
I got offered both sizes of Explorer as a walk in a couple of weeks ago

Does that hold true without sizable spending history? Or could this still apply as a brand new customer with no prior visits? I'm curious because I've never heard that before but hopefully that means times are changing a bit. I see you've been around a long time so just curious if you have an existing history at your shop of choice or not that might be influencing that experience a bit.

I was actually at Rolex today. Sort of. There is a boutique attached to a Mayors - both having their own entrance but connected in the middle once inside.
Haven't seen this one before - Rolex entry roped off. One dude with a huge cowboy hat (I'm in Florida, btw) and I'm assuming his wife standing inside with someone behind the counter.
Ok, I''ll try to go through Mayors. Nope - also roped off with a security guard and a receptionist lady who pretty much gave me the "hi what the hell are you doing here" greeting (I was there to get some links).
Anyway, either that dude was some crazy VIP - or they're hardly letting people in the store these days.
And to look at what? Empty cases and exhibition only pieces?
The whole thing just left a bad taste in my mouth. On top of that- up to 8 weeks to get some links.
Dicks.
Oh and since they already had my info they showed me their screen to make sure it was all correct. I noted to them my email was actually wrong as they had left out a letter.
I joked with them and said I guess that is why I haven't received any communication about my E2 being ready. She laughed and said they typically call. To which I said, well is my phone number correct because I have not received a call either.
She didn't laugh.

I would pay 16.9 for a new steel Daytona. But not up front and wait years to get it.
