As you may know, Rolex has announced a price increase in 2020. Have listed the new EUR retail prices in an article in case anyone is interested. https://millenarywatches.com/rolex-price-list-2020/ If this thread is not appropriate, let me know.
Market Manipulation. There'll be case studies written about this at the business schools at Harvard and Chicago ten years from now. Love 'em or hate 'em; they're very good at what they do.
So, if we've been on the list for a ceramic Daytona since forever, we don't get it at the price it was posted for at the time that we got on the list?
Correct. It's the new price you will pay. Even if someone specially orders a watch (say a diamond Datejust), and the price is increased in the meantime, the AD should go after the new price (some ADs honor the old price but most don't).
No increase for Submariners @Millenary Watches ??? Sorry just re-checked your link but its under Sea Dwellers list... Might wanna correct your website
Rolex in the USA just increased prices 7.4% on average. And there will still be a shortage of desirable models. Steel Daytona up 6%.
I suspect that many prospective clients would be quite happy to pay 6-7% over the current retail price of the Daytona, as this is still way below the asking price in the grey / pre-owned market.
I turned down a 1 month old Deep Blue from a 3rd party last July, to get one at MSRP at my AD for $1000 less after tax. Been on the AD list for 6 months - I felt bad when I needed a Tudor Pepsi GMT for a trip by Oct 17th last year and they couldn't guarantee it, so I bought it 3rd party. Thinking back, I should have taken my chances on the Tudor GMT, wore my Rolex Pepsi if they missed the deadline, and spent the money at the AD to get access to other watches faster. But if they call me soon and want 7.4% more than when I was ready to pay last year, then after 8.5% tax the D-Blue from the AD will cost me MORE than the one I passed up this summer - *)&%@#! Deep Blue markup was only 15% over MSRP last summer, and half of that would be taken up by taxes at the AD. EDIT - DAMMIT, 3rd Party prices on the 126660 Deep Blue have gone up $1000 in 6 months. So, I'd pay $1K more whether it comes from the AD or 3rd party, because I waited. I'm about ready to leave the game.
Love the humor. I’m sure not. I’m also guessing that if any money was put down it won’t see any interest either
I think it’s the expected order of events for a brand that may be rising, no? What “more” luxurious brands do you have in mind that did not themselves once ascend? (not to assert that Rolex is/will definitely ascend, but instead to wonder out loud if it’s all that mystifying?)
