Diameter, the Oyster Date being a bit smaller than the Date-Just. But aside from the diameter, there are other differences too numerous to mention. Some bezel options on the Date-Just are not available on the Oyster Date.

Thanks for asking this question. This is one of those questions I never knew the answer to but thought about it when it came up.

You're much welcome. I have learned more than a dozen things about watches in a short span of joining the OF.
    Cheers!

Nasty rabbit hole to go down. My recommendation is find a birth year and research the options and correctness for one.

Oh, I don't know. I have successfully purchased several vintage DJs without too much stress, and I've been happy with them. The good thing is that they are incredibly common, so you can afford to be picky. I don't think it's necessary to limit oneself to a birth-year. For the acrylic crystal versions, the main decision will be between the 1600/1601/1603 series (which have the great pie-pan dials, but setting the non-quickset date is a pain), and the 16000/16014/16030, which have less interesting dials IMO, but the next-generation movement with more convenient quickset date. Within these series, the only difference is the bezel: plain/fluted/engine-turned.

There are some special variations of the dial (wide-boy, sigma, etc.), but you might just want to stick with the most basic version for your first purchase.

@Lovewatches2, just do some research and post here before a final decision.

    I agree!!

Just nice to have birth years. Some day I’ll get a grey dial crenellated bezel 76. I’ll settle for fluted.

Hi, could you explain your recommendation regarding 'birth year'?
