·Hi fellas, its been a while since my last post!
But I have something you just don't see every day.
Undertaking vintage restoration is somewhat difficult, especially with Rolex early calibers.
Who's been in the trade or in the repair business for too long, i'm sure they had their fair share of unpleasant surprises, like not being able to track certain materials.
Rolex is not exactly my daily routine, i wanted to share a nice 2025 find with y'all...
Ca. ~75 yrs old new old stock service parts for the 8171 Rolex Moonphase. Materials from an old watchmaking estate, to my surprise.
From the same estate, got as well NOS crowns, stems, mainsprings and balance staffs with it, in small cardboard capsule boxes.
As well a 57' 20mm pre SUB riveted bracelet along, as well in decent condition. Some hands to the mix, as well different other unsorted parts, like UG or Rolex straps, some rare unusual crystals, etc. But nothing as interesting as the above.
Although i specialize in vintage obsolete materials and repairs, its the first time i came across such incredibly well stored Rolex parts. Its a first to me.
While I do not doubt the're aficionados out there looking to upscale/refresh the looks of their Padelones, i'm totally unsure about their value (simply in the dark here).
But I'd be eager to learn from the experts. No matter if it comes from experienced watchmakers or dealers, all input is welcome.
Thanks!
