    Hey guys,

Thinking about purchasing a Rolex Oyster Precision 6426 from the 1970s. Advice?

The 6426 has a manually wound cal 1210 movement. Nothing wrong with the Oyster but for a couple hundred more you could have an Air King or OPD. It'll be a bit thinner than the watches with rotors however. I don't think I'd pay much more than $1400 for one and it'd have to be in good shape.

Have you looked at a ref. 6694? whatever you get, make sure it has original bracelet. Very important with Rolex.

It's rubbish, move it on and get something decent!

    (well, I had to try didn't I ;))

I love the absolute classic simplicity of this model

    No, Mexican (Melbournian).

    I went to Sydney once.

    I didn't like it.

    ;)

I was based at Garden Island for a number of years, it's very close to the 'Loo, the Cross and a number of other incredible places.
I was late teens early twenties, I can hardly remember those five years :D

I think it's great, actually. If I didn't already have so many manual wind Rolexes, I'd have considered it. I have the somewhat similar but much less common 6424 -- this model is somewhat larger (36mm) and doesn't have lug holes -- but I don't think the 6424 was produced past the mid-60s.
