Hello

Does anyone know if Rolex made Oyster Perpetuals in stainless steel case + solid gold bezel and crown? Also, any chance this is a redial? This has a Cal. 1570.

Solid gold crown as well?

those vintage Rolex crowns were not solid gold, but why would you think the gold crown doesn't belong on that watch?

I always thought all Rolex fluted bezels were solid precious metal of some sort.

Fluted bezels are solid gold alloy, and found on Date-Justs. The bezel on the subject watcHis karat gold alloy, but it is an engine turned bezel, not fluted. And the watch in not a Date-Just.

Yes I believe you are correct, both yellow and white gold. The bezel on this subject watch is fluted not engine turned albeit hard to tell by the wear and polishing, and certainly solid gold.

Engine turned versus fluted.

What is the difference? The rube askes. Photographic illustrations appreciated.

Here are two of ours for comparison. Fluted:

engine turned:

However there are some engine turned styles that are solid yellow gold but no stainless fluted. Confused yet? 😁

I asked because I see mixed info online. Some say gold plated crown only while some say solid gold crown. Also, I can see that the case has been polished. Lugs are not that sharp anymore. However, did you mean to say on your other post that bezel was polished as well? Or you meant hard to say due to wear? On the other hand, case has been overly polished, no?
