Hi all, Up for sale today is my Rolex Oyster Perpetual ref 1003 with a classic silver dial. They say vintage is all about the details and this has a few nice ones. Let's start with the silver sunburst dial - a classic Rolex look but with interesting and sharp indices which when combined with the dauphine hands (a trademark of 1960s Rolex design) look great on the wrist. And to complete the look and add some presence it has a sharp, engine turned bezel. While the service history is unknown, it was just given a look over by my watchmaker and it’s in good running condition - starts immediately when picked up and keeps time within 8 seconds/day (YMMV). Highlights: - Beautiful silver sunburst dial - Dauphine hands - Engine turned bezel - New crystal being installed soon Additional Information: Size: 34.2mm without crown, 19mm lug width Year: 1960s Movement: Automatic cal 1560 Box/papers: No I’m asking $2350 USD which will also include insured shipping within CONUS. Other countries at cost. Paypal, Transferwise or bank wire only. Watch and I are in the US and I can ship worldwide (with some exceptions). Plenty of references available upon request. Thanks!
Back up for sale as the previous buyer had a change of heart after his watchmaker told him this watch doesn't seem to weigh like a 1960s Rolex and makes a ticking sound
Just to be clear as I’ve had a couple questions over PM: the watch is absolutely original and has no issues whatsoever. The previous owner was misguided and it was easier to accept a return than fight a PayPal case.
To the guy who returned this- you need to find another watchmaker and learn a little more about watches- particularly Rolex movements and beat rates.
Haha! After what I heard, I didn't even bother asking. Thanks man. It's certainly a frustrating experience when the other person is not only misinformed but also unwilling to separate facts from opinion.
Not to hijack your sale posting, but I had a “new” Rolex owner tell my my 1500 OPD was a fake when he asked to see it (thought he was being friendly at work). He said he could see it “tick” slightly so that was how he “knew”. I said the older models have a lower beat rate than the newer ones...he stared at me blankly...we haven’t spoken since.
Glad to see this sold- this is a classic and not your run-of-the-mill DJ. Gongrats to the new owner- I’m green with envy.
