·Hi all,
Up for sale today is my Rolex Air-King ref 5500 in stainless steel. This is an uncommon Super Precision variant with the automatic caliber 1530 and beautiful dauphine hands which in my opinion are such a quintessential design trait of this era. The lume on the dial and hands is original and has aged to a nice, creamy color. The watch comes on a late 1960s Rolex rivet oyster bracelet that will fit up to a 7.5" wrist.
Condition: This example is in good vintage condition. The classic silver sunburst dial is very clean. The case appears thick and has seen some polishing over the years. As expected of a 55+ year old watch, there are hairline scratches on the case, bracelet and crystal and the hands do show some oxidation. Nothing excessive though and presents well on the wrist. The caliber 1530 runs smoothly and keeps time within 10 seconds/day. Ref and serial # are clearly legible on the case.
