Rolex 6263 at a birthday party??

Hello all, I hosted a birthday party for my son over the weekend and ran into a fellow parent who knows I like watches. We got to talking and she showed me a picture of a Rolex 6263 which is in a safety deposit box down the road! My interest spiked but I am certainly not a Rolex expert. She said it was left by her Grandfather and has sat unused in the bank box.

Any expert advice on the originality and value would be appreciated?
Thank you! 😎

I don't know much about Daytona's but that looks like a very valuable watch! If she is US based and is looking for more information/looking to sell, reaching out to Eric Wind would probably not be a bad idea.

Thank you. She is not looking to sell. Just interested in today’s market. I really just posted because it looks like a badass watch to my untrained eyes! 😎
Any information on this piece is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It really is impossible to express any opinion on a watch that is as potentially valuable as this one based on one picture over the internet.

Whatever she does, do not, do not, DO NOT send it to Rolex. They will destroy the value of the watch by trying to make it into a new watch. The value here is in the originality.

There are a number of “Antiques Roadshow” appraisals of similar watches on YouTube. I’m not posting them here because they are not the same and little items with these watches can make tens of thousands in difference in value, maybe more.

This is potentially an extremely valuable watch. You need someone who knows what they are doing. I wish I knew someone like that, but I don’t play in that big of a sandbox.

I agree 1000 % and I did tell her not to send to Rolex. She has no plans do so. It’s sitting in a bank box and she pointed to the bank across the street!! I just thought it was fun to post here and any information is appreciated.
I see numbers from $20k up to 200k.
To be clear I have absolutely no skin in this watch. Just something fun a fellow parent shared with me.
As always thanks. 😎

Super cool, and a sigma dial to boot. Safe estimate would be at least $40k, up to maybe $100, depending on condition and the rest. Incredibly cool though--fun to experience watches like that, entirely free of hype or anything.

I thought the same. Just a super cool mom who said “check out what I have in a safety deposit box “! 😎
