i agree, i tried it in another 1680 bezel and it fits and snaps into place but it would come out if knocked. In my books is a write off.

Oh well, live and learn. I should have spotted that bezel though, Im slipping.

It would still like to know where that bezel came from. It is nagging at me because it looks familiar, but I can't place it. Oh well ...

The seller definitely shaved the bezel insert. Thanks for mentioning this Dan, I would have missed this in my dispute. He took quite a bit of material off as you can see (shaved bezel insert on left, original insert on right)

Paypal closed the case in favour of the seller. They stated the bezel was materially similar to an actual bezel. Just a warning to anyone else out there, be careful.

Interesting. It seems to be the general belief that PP almost always sides with the buyer, but I guess that's not really true. That's unfortunate. To us the differences are obvious, but to many people the bezels would probably look the same. I'm talking about the PP people, not the seller.

I am now on the hunt to find out what watch this bezel belongs to in the forlorn hope I can recoupe some funds. I found two candidates just now. The bezels on these vintage tudors and rolex's look very close to the bezel that came on my watch.

Am I missing something? The insert looks like a standard Mk3 insert for late 60s through 70s 5512/3, 1680, 1665. The pearl, if original, looks nice. Yes the insert has value even if shaved down. I’ve got a friend looking for one on a budget if you want to sell it.

Edit to add: that’s a crazy PP decision, haven’t heard that before.

Thanks Southtexas. PP have reopened the case once again upon my insistance, however they have closed it twice now. So we will see. Sure if your friend wants an insert I can talk about selling it if I end up having to keep the watch.

I am going to source a new bezel and insert now. I was provided with a partial refund by the seller.

Well I finally got refunded for this fake bezel. I was allowed to retain it although I did try to return it sixteen time.

I might hang onto the insert along with all the original parts that came with this watch. Its great to know it is an original insert from the correct time period of 1971

I sent the watch off for a service a month ago. I will update this thread with a few photos when it is returned. The entire purchasing experience with this piece wasnt fantastic I have to say, but its time to move on.
