Hi - I picked up a rolex submariner 1680 case recently. It came with a bezel in insert. The bezel looks unusual to me, the groves around the bezel edge look pointed and come very close to the inserts outer edge. They usually have a scolloped shape to them. This could be heavy wear, Im not sure. What are your thoughts? Also the bezel is pretty easy to take off by hand, a small twist at either end and it pops off.
It's weird that the insert fits and it pretty much fits the case. If some knows what watch this bezel is actually from I would love to hear it
Sometimes people do little modifications on inserts to make them fit. No idea of that's the case here.
I lodged a dispute so I am getting a partial refund to cover buying the replacements. Not too worried about it now.
Too bad. As I mentioned, people will sometimes do that, but it would be crazy to do it with a fat font Sub insert, even one with some damage. Of course, it might have been done a long time ago when things weren't so valuable, by someone who damaged the bezel and just wanted something to wear. Anyway, it looks like a nice mid-case for a project.
No telling what someone will buy, but IMO if there is a gap when placed in a legit bezel (or if it won't stay in place properly), I don't think anyone will pay much for it. So you should give it a careful check.
