I am not ashamed to admit that I just found out that Sigma stands for the gold markes.

Yes, I believe they indicate that the hands and dial furniture are solid gold. Since the "sigma" symbols can't be seen in the OP's photos, I will show a better photo here, so that readers of the thread can understand that there are Greek lower-case sigma symbols on either side of the "T SWISS T".
