Gravel hill collapsed out from under my bike (with me on it) faster than I was riding down it three days ago out in the desert... low sided the entire way down on my left shin & foot while still clipped in with two pairs of tights & knickers on, heavy wool socks & Fizik mtb shoes.
    Rocks don't fuck around.

1st photo: Day 1 - the damage is done but the hematomas & swelling are en route.
2nd & 3rd photos: Day 3 - the swelling & hematomas have arrived. Ankle is seriously pissed off too.
Still riding but damn if this isn't a touch uncomfortable.
*Watch ~ Speedmaster Professional fortunately stayed mostly under the glove I was wearing otherwise it would have eaten the entirety of the slide as well.
Nice little ding on the outside Tachy lip and a couple small pips on the hesalite... ulnar bone faired worse so no complaints. Keeping perfect time.

RN Wife pulled out another classic when I arrived home...

Her: "How was your ride today?"

Me: "Good until it wasn't... I borked it hard down a gravel hill."

    Her: "Let me look."

    I show her.

    Her: "Don't be a pussy. You're fine."

    RN's are one hard audience.

So I showed her my watch -

Her: "Poor baby, feel better," and then she kissed the crystal and walked away.

Some day that woman will show me some sympathy.

Clearly you don't own a dog ... I'm used to that shit as my wife is a Veterinary Tech. Puppies get all the kisses, i get the "suck it up buttercup".

We have a miniature dachshund, and a daughter... I haven't received a lick of empathy since either has been in our lives.

Where’s that thread where I was advocating a cheap beater for cycling in case of falls? I’m glad your watch is mostly okay.

I went down a gully in the Smoky Mountains with my Speedy- the watch took some hard knocks- popped the bezel off half way down the hill and put some deep gouges in the crystal. Crystal didn’t crack, watch didn’t miss a beat. I snapped the bezel back on with a hard push and it stayed that way for another 7 years until I retired it (storage bin) in favor of a service bezel and fresh crystal.
Glad you didn’t break anything on the way down. Gotta get those sexy legs ready for bikini weather!

Glad it wasn't any worse! Someone pin this for the next time a new member asks if it's ok to take their speedmaster out for light physical activity.

Bike is good... I was on it so my left side protected it as we, bike and me, borked the entire slope of the hill.

You still have that Costco-size Nair we bought last summer when we went rented that Airbnb on Fire Island?
