    The condition wasn't that bad as the smell was.

    I cleaned the strap and removed the fat with cleaning benzin for kimono silk and recolored the leather.

    Warning. With out protection the color will
    darken as you use it, putting on and taking off.
    And get ugly.
    The oils from your fingers will stain and darken
    usually just the side facing you. What works well
    I have found is to lightly coat the strap with some
    matte urethane. This will lock in the color and not
    allow skin oils or other oils to darken the strap.
