Why does this bother you? People can keep whatever they want...
Oh, did I run afoul of the orthodoxy again?

Free flow of ideas, sir. Trying to understand other perspectives. I cannot fathom why people willingly eat mayonaise either. YUCK!

There is no orthodoxy, that’s a creation of your fertile mind. But it’s good to be the persecuted contrarian, right?

No one owes you an answer, and to make ridiculous comments that people think “it could be cloned” isn’t exactly promoting this “free flow of ideas” you now claim to want.

I know many collectors who want all the old replaced parts back, that they keep with the watch as part of its history. If this makes sense to you or not is irrelevant, because as you so often point out to people on this forum, people value things differently, and approach collecting differently.

Why did you feel so compelled to correct me, then?

I didn’t “correct” you...

If this is a mineral crystal (usually flat), the standard Polywatch won't do anything. I tried "diamond paste" and it did very little. So I decided to replace it with a flat sapphire crystal which is only $4 difference on Ebay. I have the before photo and after. I believe my Seamaster is of similar age as yours. The before photo is a bit out of focus so the scratches don't look too bad.

Down the road a bit. I’ve found an original New old stock movement. I plan to fit it and wear it on a daily basis - to tell time. This is what it was made for - it’s not a fashion show and I don’t want to be scared to wear it.
