    Hello,

I am new to this forum and this is my first post. Also, I am quite new to Swiss vintage automatics. Currently, I am considering purchasing a vintage 1960's Omega Constellation and I would like to ask for your advise on this watch.

Do you think this is authentic? This is still being considered and I have not bought it. Any insight/advise is much appreciated. I hope the information provided is sufficient.

    More information about the watch:

    - its listed as a 1960's Constellation. With no Caliber given - I suspect that the Caliber is 751 from the pictures and the reference.
    - Reference (from the case back inside) is 168 029

    Information about the seller:

    - The seller seems to mostly deal in vintage ware that are not watches, this was the only watch I found in their current inventory
    - They did not have any more high res photos of the watch even though I requested for some

What stood out to me in a odd manner:

    - The crown doesn't look like it's signed
    - The alignment of the lettering on the case back inside is a bit crooked, to me. Maybe I am wrong and this is normal.

    Hi,

Personally I've never seen this kind of alignement on an inner case back

Should be there a T for Tritium aside Swiss Made?

There are lefts of corrosion on the inner edges of the case

Not shure about the lume on the minute hand.

How much is the seller asking?

Thanks for replying. I’m not sure about the alignment of the text as you said. I’ve seen a few connies without the T beside the Swiss Made text before - then again, I can’t vouch for their authenticity, either!

Thanks for pointing out the corrosion :) the lume as you said seem to be corroded on the second hand.

The seller is asking for $800 + shipping. Whichever watch I get, I would me sending it in for a service soon after I get it - that would cost me around $300 or so.

    Hi,

sorry but I forgot to welcome you at the forum:)

 for your detailed investigation so far!

Hour and minute hand could be different, I can't see exactely on the photographs

On the seconds hand there should be no lume at all

Personally I think 800$ is too much

I think you might get other replies from the real specialists

Here is a picture of a totally different caseback

Thank you for welcoming me :)

Sorry, I meant the minute hand - not the second hand.

The case back that you posted are what I usually see - the text is in alignment. That actually put me off quite a bit. And also, I noticed today that the straps are smaller than the lug width - which, if I’m the owner, would never do.

Thanks for your input on the pricing of this watch. I am still too new to know what the right price is for a particular watch. Most similar watches go for $500-$600 depending on the condition. $600 being in an okay state but not in mint condition. I am looking for a stainless steel, cream/white linen dial, constellation with a “C” type case. Which, I’m finding not so easy to come across :)

That said. Watch appears ok to me though crown is not original. What's left is the price. The right price should be $500 - $600 for C case. IMO

Thank you everyone for replying. I contacted my watchmaker regarding the watch - he expressed the same about the price and asked me to keep looking.
