Request for case/reference ID help - nothing on caseback 1943/1944 era rose gold

Hi all,

Long time lurker, first time registering.

Firstly, I own this piece.

Secondly, not looking for a valuation. Could care less about the value of this piece.

Thirdly, not looking for authentication of verification of the piece.

I've done my best to try and ID the watch. I am trying to restore it to its former beauty and it came with a burnished and generic crown. I have had two different watchmakers look at it, order a crown, to only be disappointed and receive yellow gold, and the wrong shape/size for the era to boot.

I'm aware of what Omega did in (was it 2015?). I have a line on a supplier of vintage pieces. I just need help ID'ing the case. They couldn't do that for me.

Movement: 30T2 (some variant of, don't have the best photo)
Movement Serial: 9767491
Caseback Serial: 10613181
Model/Reference: Missing

I understand prior to the late 1940's, especially in precious metal models this is not uncommon. Unfortunately the watchmaker gave me some wonky tap/tube numbers so even ordering based on that info has thrown me off. 3

I really appreciate the help as I've looked for 10's of hours. Comparing other watches, ones for sale, write-ups, image searches and all with no luck. This will save me ~$160 CAD instead of having to go to the Omega Archives if someone can help me out. I'd be ever-so-grateful.

The only way to identify this watch outside of Omega would be to find a catalog from the early to mid 1940’s from a market where 14K watches were sold.

Very few of those catalogs exist anymore.

Will be very difficult to find in rose plated... Suggestion: get the tube outer diameter tap size and find a used Bowler Hat type crown. Send it to a jeweller for rose gold plating.....

Was hoping this would be an easy ID!
If that were only so. I have crowns that want watches. None seem to be rose gold however.
This is of course for education and entertainment. These things do not really like being photographed.

The watch could be a ref OJ 2271.
It is not so difficult to choose the correct crown for 30 mm Omegas of that era as they did not have an Omega logo - the problem is to find them.
To help you find the right shape:

I would choose this type, size around 5.5 or 6.0 mm

This is another option and looks perfect on vintage watches of that age:

I will help you when my "provider" is back from vacation in September, so you have to be a little patient.

Another problem you have are the hands, they are wrong replacements. The watch should have leaf hands.

@mac_omega -

Thank you for the key to unlock the mystery. I was able to find several examples of Ref. 2271 in other metals to compare. Here is the clearest picture of a steel version.

The crown on this one is the unsigned version. I don’t think Omega has sold replacements like this one for many years.

I was able to find listing for the modern replacement crown at both Jules Borel and Ofrei.com. The Ofrei listing has the dimensions:

https://www.ofrei.com/page_147.html

However, this shape does not match either of the choices @mac_omega mentioned above. This is common for older Omegas, as once Omega discontinued a particular shape of crown, they would recommend whichever one they made that would fit the case. Also, the crown is not produced in rose gold and would need to be replated to match your case.

Hope this helps,

Wow! Thanks so so much I truly mean it. Imagine my surprise when I checked my post to see so much helpful information. From the direction on the crown type, to the hands information and the suggestion to order based on getting some better measurements. Admittedly I have a crappy micronometer so I'll leave that to my watchsmith and his professional grade one. Thanks everyone for responding.

I'll let you all know how I make out! I was so lucky to get a vintage Omega black strap for it (obviously not period correct but from what I can tell from the 50's/60's? And a silver buckle that IS period correct so just needs to be plated. I'm not against plating, just not sure how it'll hold up but worth a shot.
