Replacing an Seamaster 2255 Bezel?

The shiny bezel insert on my Seamaster Pro is all beat up and couldn't be polished according to my watch guy. Do I need to replace the whole bezel or can I just replace the insert? My guy - who mainly does Rolexs - said it's all one piece that needs to be replaced.

Does anyone know a good place to get a new bezel or insert for cheap? I can't find any of the shiny bezel's for sale at all. I don't think i can afford the price of an AD to get it done.

Still waiting for an AD quote - but I suspect it will be $500-$1000 - I know these parts don't come cheap.

Any leads on an aftermarket bezel for this model?

It’s perhaps $400. Not $1000.

Do you not have the money or just looking to save a little? These watches are expensive to own and you might consider selling if you can’t afford genuine parts and accessories.

That's rather condescending don't you think?

The bezel isn't even close to $500, so your estimate is a little high.

By the way, the inserts you will find on eBay are largely fakes, as Omega does not sell the insert separately. So if you want a genuine bezel, you should stick to the AD.

Clearly not. He might have sticker shock or just not understand that high-end watches are expensive to own. Better to get that out of the way so he can decide whether his long-term goals need to change.

It took me a long time to learn this lesson… there are no short cuts. If you want to be in this market, you have to be able to pay for it.

I can afford AD prices - that's not the issue. I'm just trying to figure out if there is a better value for money alternative.

So if one purchases an insert - where do they get the bezel itself? SkunkPrince said the whole piece needs to be replaced.

So are you saying that if someone can't afford to spend $2000 on a correct bracelet for their vintage speedmaster, they shouldn't have bought it in the first place and should sell it?

Omega only sells the complete bezel - the inserts that are for sale are fakes - not made by Omega.

If you look at the listing that was linked above, in the description it says this:

"The item for sale is a brand new, aftermarket, Silver insert with Black font to fit Omega Seamaster Professional 300m Fullsize watches."

Aftermarket is the key word - euphemism for fake. If you want a genuine replacement, the only place to get one is your AD. Wait to see what the price is - again it's is no where near even $500, let alone $1000, so it's cheaper than you are expecting.

I don't think that particular Omega with 1120 movement is expensive to own. it can be serviced by almost any able watchmaker.

The "correct bracelet" is not currently manufactured and is quite different than spending $250 on a correct, Omega bezel or $20 on a fake insert.

I don't think it's all that expensive, either, considering I have an equivalent 2254.50.

I was trying to do a kindness to someone who hasn't spent much time here. But, as the saying goes, no good deed goes unpunished.

There is hardly anything in the world that some man cannot make a little worse and sell a little cheaper, and the people who consider price only are this man's lawful prey.

I replaced the bezel and insert on my 2254 last year for around $450 CAD, from a local watchmaker with an Omega parts account.

This really helps - I actually got a quote back from Omega Canada and they selling the bezel for $370 CAD + shipping and GST. I thought it would be a lot more for some reason.
