Removing Stainless Steel Caseback Corrosion and Pitting

Hello,would any one have experience of making the corrision less noticable on a case back
ie, so its not so black in appearance.
I have tried baking soda as suggested on the Web but made no differance

There's certainly some pitting there, but there also could be gasket goo as well - I use 99% alcohol to clean up the old gaskets - works wonders.

For the pitting, the OP could try some vinegar or evapo-rust.

Sadly there is no gasket goo,its all pitting,not heard of evapo-rust, thanks will look that up
have some Cure Rust that I had for my old classic car but dont know it it works on stainless

It's not trivial to repair pitting like that. Most people who do laser welding won't touch it.
