Regulator pointer on balance question.

Hello all, sorry for another post but I purchased my first Omega watch and I’ve been trying to figure out a repair regarding the balance. I’ve been trying to search the web but unfortunately not too much luck.

The Regulator Pointer part is missing, so the ring (marked with a red arrow on attached photo) moves freely since there isn’t anything holding it tightly. Surprisingly though, the watch runs well on the wrist and keeps good time.

That said, would purchasing a Regulating Pointer be a possible solution? I’m new to watchmaking so not sure if the Regulator Pointer will just pop on top of the balance and fit perfectly. The movement cal. is 601.

Thanks in advance.

You are missing the regulator pointer and the regulator adjusting screw as well.

This is a 601 with the correct parts fitted.

You can see that the regulator pointer sits over and centralises the regulator and uses friction to rotate the regulator as the regulator adjuster (screw) is turned.

Parts you need are shown below.

So, the part numbers you require are:

601 1332 and 601 1339

Thank you!

Would eBay be the best place to look out for these parts?

If you don't have a watchmaker with an Omega parts account it probably will be.
You can also search companies like Cousins UK, Boley, and other watch supply companies.

It may be easier to source a donor watch or movement.

If the watch runs well, would you say adding those two parts is necessary?
Curious what you would do under these circumstances. And again, really appreciate your help.

The watch cannot be running well unless something has been jury rigged to keep it going.
Omega put those parts there for a very good reason.
If it was my watch, I'd put the correct parts on it and service it.

No, the regulator itself is still there, it's the fine adjuster that's missing. The watch though appears to be in need of a service, so if I were servicing this, I would certainly make it right.
