I recently bought a Seamaster that is in need of a crown. See:

https://omegaforums.net/threads/thoughts-on-gambling-with-this-seamaster.125620/

While I am waiting for it to arrive from overseas I am starting the hunt for a crown. It is a bit tricky for me to track down information with certainty, so I have a couple questions.

1) I don't have a picture of the inside caseback, but there is a photo of the 501 movement and screw down caseback. I searched the Omega Vintage watch database and found it to contain only one Seamaster (14710) with a cal. 501, Screw down caseback and the same style lugs/case. I googled images for references that lacked images. Should I be very confident that the watch is a ref 14710 based on this information?

2) The original crown for a 14710 is thin and scalloped like this, correct?

3) The current replacement crown for a 14710 is a 42055 which is thicker with different edge, correct? (I'm going off a confusing description from Otto Frei)

4) The 42011 was an older replacement crown for the 14710 case, correct? I can still find one of these NOS on ebay, and think it is much closer to the original. Am I reading the German page correctly?

Sorry for the long post, I wanted to include all the photos, and my research process so that it could be of use to future readers.

This is the crown on my 14779 - 61

Thanks, it looks very much the same as what I believe are original 14710 crowns, but the current replacement part number is different according to boley.de

Thanks, the logo style is an obvious clue to age. Don't know why I didn't think about that. 🤦

Nevermind, @new_heuer reached out and offered me a NOS original crown for a fair price. It is on it way.
